For some reason, people in my building are having a hard time with recycling. Some of them don't know where the recycling bins are and some of them don't even know what recycling is.

*sigh*

After feeling sad and mad for a while, there was nothing else left for me to do. This is the first step of the "recycling' cycle (he he). I prepared a very simple a4 poster, and being a collage-lover, upcycled some plastic and paper materials for the "recycle" symbol. (oh god, how did everything become so symbolic all of a sudden?)

And this is how it looks now. ^_^ Hopefully, it'll work. I even put a small map showing where the containers are located.

i spent the whole day (the day i drew this, that is) bending wires and making miniature chairs. and it's not that i don't enjoy working with wire as the material but it's the pliers that makes me wanna die. my hands still hurt and i still have 2 more chairs and a table to make :/

i know.. it's been quite a while. and i don't really have a real excuse for that, other than finding other ways to keep my sanity (i.e. making puppets)
but since making puppets is not really a way to keep sane anymore, i might just go back to drawing. i'm not sure if i'll be able to do this on a daily basis as before but one can always hope, right?

i finally opened an etsy shop (if you call that blank page a shop anyway). i'll be posting my concerns about that and other stuff about work and money in my "personal" blog, so i'm not going to talk about the details here. it's just the banner i made for the shop i'm interested in here. i'm kind of happy with this. also it seems like a good thing that all my blog and "shop" banners are alike somehow.. we'll see how it'll turn out.

but i just couldn't manage to make this properly. this is my first version. i wasn't sure what was wrong about this and finally decided the yellow contour was the error.

"cactus" was the name of our camping place. it seemed like a reggae cafe but turned out to be really lovely place.

i drew this cactus character first on a detachable sheet and decided to give it to the owners of the place. but i got embarrassed somehow and asked my friend to give it for me. when he gave the drawing, he said their menu sheets were a bit lame and i did this drawing for replacement. when i heard this, my embarrassment grew bigger and bigger and i thought it would be best to talk them and explain things. when i did, they said it was lovely and would look great on the menu. it was really flattering, and i offered to design the menus based on the character. i'm still not sure if they were serious or not but they accepted my offer with joy and left every decision to me. well, i'll try some designs in the following days, we will all see how this will turn out.

yes, watercolor only again. even though it seems to be working, i'm beggining to think that i need to find some different subjects for dealing with watercolor properly, since the inked ones still look more cute..
anyway, about the sea water biting me.. it did bit me, twice! i still don't know what it was, but it was someting biting in the sea. maybe it did not really bit me but it did poke me on both my ankles. it was really irritating, espacially not knowing what the hell was going on part..

after giving it some thought, i decided it was best to stick with the old style. but i still wanted to do something with only watercolor for the background and it turned out to be horrible.. it was also weird that i drew this instead of actually go to sea. but i went swimming afterwards..

it was the moment when i started to think that i was carrying the fire with me. first i did the watercolor but i wasn't really happy with the result so i drew the contour lines with ink. it's kind of a little doodle in fact.

i really didn't mean it to be that depressive.. but it just happened to be.. i actually thought i disliked being in the dark and without electricity exactly for 24 hours much, and my whole intention was to reflect that; being in the dark. but maybe i was much more concerned about the fire itself than i really thought i was. i don't know.. in fact, i'm too tired now to analyze that.. so, let's just call it a day.

i think no explanation is necessary, since the image can talk for itself. but i'd like to tell a bit though. it all started with the struggle of choosing the right font for my website and the idea of using my very own handwriting stoke me. it would be nice, cute and sincere (good thought, my girl) and i didn't have the slightest idea how to create a font. so we (me and my tiny brain) actually told ourselves "how hard could it be anyway". there we got it then, it was really really hard. i spent my whole day in front of the computer trying to handle the whole font creating thing, and begging the application to export my fonts properly.
but at least, i have my fonts now and i think i actually like being involved with typography.. who would have known.

this version is how it looks like on the notebook. and it took a ridiculously long time (practically all day) to finish. i just had to paint over and over to close the mistakes and finally managed to came up with this result and lucky me, i can say that i'm quite satisfied (still learning, huh?)

today, i finally had the chance to meet the sea.. it was not the most pleasant meeting though. the weather was so crazy that i wouldn't be surprised if a hurricane took place. and unfortunately, the wind made waves so strong that i had to struggle for a long time just to move 5 or 10 meters. i did manage to swim somehow though, but my ears ached painfully afterwards..

anyways, here is "swim" which has the most incorrect choice of material -which is watercolor. but i'm still learning and i don't have any intention to stop playing with my new toys any sooner.:)

i'm aware that yesterday's illustration is missing but i've been trying to design my very own web site. actually, i'm still struggling with flash and every new step just turns out to be another problem. it's really time and mind consuming that i even couldn't find the chance to play with my new watercolors as they deserve.. anyhow, i managed to come up with this result and i'm quite happy with it. and it was just love at first sight with the watercolor set and i can see that it was an excellent decision.. the colors are incredibly jolly, bright and beatiful..

this one is for bandit; the cat who lives with me and eats grass all the time nowadays.. i really enjoyed drawing this because i kind of feel like a shepherd (especially like the clumsy "little bo peep") while waiting him eating his grass in the garden and i'm afraid he's also feeling like a sheep those times..
